How It Works
- Bring your non-ferrous metals to our premises (Millhouse Waste Traders, Top Yard, Mill House Lane, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 3LN).
- On arrival, we have various containers for your materials to be deposited into. Your metals are then weighed on our weighing scales which are annually calibrated.
- We will offer you a competitive price (which is often paid same day), and provide you with the relevant paperwork.
Please note, a current photo-card driving license is needed to confirm your full name, date of birth, and residential address. If you do not have a photo-card driving license, you can produce another form of photo ID, along with separate proof of your address. You’ll need one item from each of the two Government approved lists:
Accepted forms of photo ID:
- Valid UK passport.
- Valid passport issued by a European Economic Area state.
- Valid UK biometric immigration document.
Accepted forms of address verification (which must not be older than 3 months):
- Bank or building society statement.
- Credit or debit card statement.
- Council tax statement or demand letter.
- Utility bill (e.g. gas, electricity, water), but not a mobile phone bill.

Yes, you will need to provide proof of address and a form of photo ID in order to sell your non-ferrous metals. In the UK, the Scrap Metal Dealers Act requires we confirm your identity when you hand over your scrap metal.
